Project Manager

Job Summary

Responsible for managing and delivering project based activity to the defined scope, timeline and budget.  Using appropriate tools, knowledge and experience to mitigate risk, manage issues and ensure successful completion across the organization.

Key Duties

  • Ensure execution of strategic initiatives, builds program and project management capabilities within the bank and takes direct management of the project management function.
  • Be responsible for providing a broad range of administrative, analytical, support and execution functions.
  • Provide input to the planning of projects, development of business solutions, process re-engineering, project scheduling, budgeting, reporting and implementation, with special emphasis on management, coaching and mentoring project personnel on the planning and execution of critical business initiatives.
  • Provide program management support for all projects in the Company project portfolio; assist project managers project delivery; prepare progress reports and update steering committee/executive management; anticipate issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Coach and mentor project personnel on the development of projects plans, definition of deliverables and milestones, analysis of interdependencies, identification of contingencies, analysis and mitigation of risk, escalate potential issues, analysis and reporting of project status.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with contractors and all levels of personnel; serve as resource for technical or business expertise and advice on strategic priorities and projects.
  • Execute as a project or programme manager with delivery responsibility as demand requires
  • Consult with project managers and project delivery teams as needed.
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative analysis; identify and analyze reporting requirements related to key strategic projects; define/develop data sources and prepare related progress reports.
  • Diagnose problems accurately and timely; evaluate and develop alternative courses of action; recommend and/or implement creative and effective solutions; document results.
  • Ensure projects are executed in accordance with Company policies and procedures, on time and within budget.
  • Plan and facilitate project portfolio management meetings; ensure minutes, agendas and schedules are prepared and distributed timely.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, business administration, mathematics, computer sciences/information technologies or related field.
  • Professional project management designation such as “Project Management Professional” (PMP) certification from the “Project Management Institute” (PMI) or “Prince 2” and has or is willing to attain the “Program Management Professional” (PgMP) certification.
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience managing portfolios of diverse projects related to complexity, risks and strategic importance.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of procurement processes and enterprise, program and project budget management.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of adopted industry project management/information technology practices and “Information Technology Infrastructure Library” (ITIL).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of change and configuration management practices to address logistics and operational migration of hardware and software.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of business process management and / or “Six Sigma” process improvement.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of system and software development lifecycle methodologies (SDLC) and total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization.
  • Knowledge of current information technology infrastructure components and the ability to stay current on emerging technologies an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing on a strategic level with Executives and tactical level with project teams on complex topics, including influencing and guiding skills to ensure successful resolution of required decisions.
  • Proficient with “Microsoft Office Suite” including, but not limited to “Microsoft Project” tools.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • Ability to work hours to do the job including evening and weekends as demand dictates and travel as required.
