Gaelic 9s

This month we had the annual kick off the Cayman Gaelic Football season, with CML again proudly sponsoring the CML Gaelic Mixed 9s day. As usual it was a great success with a fantastic turnout. The games were played in a competitive but friendly nature (apart from one moment where Chairman of the Cayman Islands Gaelic Football Club, Dave O’Connell came in with a bruising late challenge on an unsuspecting opponent) and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all concerned.

Congratulations go out to Zolfo Cooper on winning the tournament. Zolfo had a vastly experienced team led by Kevin Guirey.  Congratulations also to beaten finalists UBS for a great tournament and to 99% and PwC who made it to the semi-final stages.  EY, DART, Harmonic, FFP, BDO & Maples also took part but were unfortunate to not make it past the group stages.

CML TV was there in force recording the exceptional play on the pitch and was also there to cover the highly anticipated CML blindfold shot! Three players were drawn out to put the ball in an empty net while blindfolded. There were several efforts from various distances…some cool finishes and near misses occurred before eventually Anne-Marie Teehan representing the Maples team proved to be successful over Padraig Brosnan and Soraya Sophia Moghadass. Anne-Marie gladly took home the smart phone prize which was provided by LIME. Well done again Anne-Marie!

All in all it was a well organised entertaining day out both on and off the pitch and we would like to thank the Cayman Islands Gaelic Football Club for giving CML the opportunity to be involved. You can see more pictures and videos of the day at and stay tuned for the CML TV video of the day’s events coming soon to the CML TV facebook page!
