Offshore Audit, Consulting & Advisory Jobs

what to expect

Every year more than 250 professional accountants from all over the world arrive offshore each year to begin an 18-24 month contract with some of the world’s best-known accounting firms. While every major audit firm is represented offshore, including the Big Four and most mid-tier firms, each firm offers a unique environment with its own speciality areas and culture. We can advise you on the differences and the best fit for your personality and career goals.

You’ll gain exposure to the financial services industry and client portfolios that focus on hedge funds, private equity funds, special purpose vehicles, difficult to value investments, insurance, family offices, and reinsurance. It is an attractive opportunity to gain and continue to build experience in the financial services industry, with great options for career progression in public practice or future moves into the industry.

Earning Potential

Higher, tax-free, or low-tax salaries in offshore jurisdictions make it an attractive prospect for those looking to improve their earning potential.

Career Potential

Enhance your career with international financial services experience at a globally recognised firm, with the potential to achieve more rapid promotion than is typical onshore.

Work-Life Balance

Life offshore is often more balanced, with shorter commutes and more balanced work hours than onshore. This topped with an island lifestyle makes for paradise found.

What Experience is Needed?

If you have two or more years of auditing experience, a professional accounting designation (CA, ACCA or CPA), and fluent English skills, you might be a great fit for offshore audit, consulting and advisory positions.

Most offshore firms are looking for individuals with previous experience working within the audit or advisory function within a Big 4 / Top 10 firm, ideally with financial services experience.

Everything you need to showcase the right skills on your audit resume for you to stand out when applying for offshore positions.

In consulting firms, there is a clear career progression from Senior to Manager, Senior Manager, Director, and finally Partner. This progression tends to happen faster than in onshore jurisdictions due to the natural turnover rate in public accounting, combined with the higher turnover associated with offshore staff who are often looking for short-term "working holidays" lasting two to three years.

Additionally, having a foundation and experience within offshore audit/consulting/advisory opens many doors into a variety of exciting industry roles after contracts expire, should you wish to branch out.
