Offshore US Tax Jobs

what to expect

Gain international experience on hedge funds and other investment vehicles such as trusts and captive insurers, all while enjoying a relaxed island lifestyle! While every major accounting firm is represented offshore, including “the Big Four” and most second-tier firms, each firm offers a unique environment with its own speciality areas and culture. We can advise you on the differences and the best fit for your personality and career goals.

The offshore finance industry relies heavily on US Tax for compliance and advisory services for corporate clients, primarily hedge fund partnerships as well as provisions and returns for corporate insurance clients. This presents a unique opportunity to continue your work in US Tax while enjoying the benefits of living offshore. With faster career progression than onshore jurisdictions, you can experience all the rewards of this dynamic industry, including exciting work and the chance to explore new jurisdictions and cultures.

Earning Potential

Higher, tax-free, or low-tax salaries in offshore jurisdictions make it an attractive prospect for those looking to improve their earning potential.

Career Potential

Enhance your career with international financial services experience at a globally recognised firm, with the potential to achieve more rapid promotion than is typical onshore.

Work-Life Balance

Life offshore is often more balanced, with shorter commutes and more balanced work hours than onshore. This topped with an island lifestyle makes for paradise found.

What Experience is Needed?

To work in this practice area, the ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2-3 years of client-facing experience. Candidates who have only worked in a service delivery center may find it challenging to obtain these roles as a high degree of direct client engagement is expected. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have US Tax experience in a public practice or consulting firm and hold a CPA or EA qualification.

In consulting firms, there is a clear career progression from Senior to Manager, Senior Manager, Director, and finally Partner. This progression tends to happen faster than in onshore jurisdictions due to the natural turnover rate in public accounting, combined with the higher turnover associated with offshore staff who are often looking for short-term "working holidays" lasting two to three years.
