Most actuarial consulting roles will be working with a Big 4 consulting firm in a team of Actuaries. You will develop solutions and deliver projects for clients in the P&C and Life insurance industries and find yourselves involved with actuaries globally on cross-border engagements.

What Experience is Needed?

To be considered for actuarial consulting positions, you will need to be working towards or have completed an actuarial designation. Experience in either Property & Casualty or Life insurance, ideally within Big 4/consulting firm environment will set you apart. In addition, you will need experience with IFRS/GAAP reporting and IFRS 17 implementation and prior use of actuarial modelling software.

Typical to the consulting firms, career progression is a little more defined, and you could expect opportunities to progress to director and partner level.
