Increasing importance of Singapore as a location of choice for offshore law firms

The announcement that market-leading offshore firm Maples & Calder has just opened an office in Singapore is a very strong indication that the city-state is now viewed as a vital hub for business and legal services in Asia not just by the major onshore law firms but now also by the major offshore law firms. Other major offshore firms that already have offices in Singapore include Walkers and Conyers Dill & Pearman and it surely cannot be too long before the remaining offshore Magic Circle firms follow suit and establish a presence there.
