Responsibilities and Duties

As a Cloud Microservices Developer, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using modern development frameworks and best practices.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs, with exposure to GraphQL or gRPC where required.
  • Develop and deploy cloud-native applications across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform environments.
  • Create and manage containerised applications using Docker and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or managed cloud services.
  • Implement event-driven architectures and integrate systems using messaging and streaming technologies including Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS/SNS, or EventBridge.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines, improving deployment efficiency and reliability.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise application performance, scalability, availability, and resource utilisation.
  • Produce technical documentation, participate in code reviews, and support ongoing platform enhancement and incident resolution.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience developing enterprise-level software applications.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience building and implementing microservices-based solutions.
  • Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot), .NET, Node.js, Go, Python, or similar modern programming languages.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD tools, and automated testing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of API security standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT authentication.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and analytical skills, with experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.

Desirable Skills

The following would be advantageous:

  • Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Hexagonal Architecture, or Clean Architecture.
  • Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture experience.
  • Service Mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Observability and monitoring tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Kubernetes certifications.
