Responsibilities and Duties
As a Cloud Microservices Developer, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using modern development frameworks and best practices.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs, with exposure to GraphQL or gRPC where required.
- Develop and deploy cloud-native applications across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform environments.
- Create and manage containerised applications using Docker and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or managed cloud services.
- Implement event-driven architectures and integrate systems using messaging and streaming technologies including Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS/SNS, or EventBridge.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines, improving deployment efficiency and reliability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise application performance, scalability, availability, and resource utilisation.
- Produce technical documentation, participate in code reviews, and support ongoing platform enhancement and incident resolution.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Systems, or a related discipline.
- 2 to 5 years of experience developing enterprise-level software applications.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience building and implementing microservices-based solutions.
- Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot), .NET, Node.js, Go, Python, or similar modern programming languages.
- Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD tools, and automated testing methodologies.
- Strong understanding of API security standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT authentication.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and analytical skills, with experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
Desirable Skills
The following would be advantageous:
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Hexagonal Architecture, or Clean Architecture.
- Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture experience.
- Service Mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
- Observability and monitoring tools including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Kubernetes certifications.
