Everything You Need to Know About the JobsCayman Portal

by Juliette Gilbert on Jun 05, 2020

The JobsCayman portal is up, running, and ready to use. We’ve compiled a quick reference article to help you navigate the platform, with everything you need to know about registering, posting a job, and reviewing applicants.

The Basics:

What is the JobsCayman portal?

The JobsCayman portal is an online system that allows registered users to access job postings created by registered employers.

Who is the JobsCayman portal for?

The purpose of the system is to offer a better approach to facilitate Caymanians in finding employment. It will also eventually allow Employers to search for qualified and skilled Caymanians who are seeking employment.

I am an Employer. Do I have to register my company on JobsCayman?

You have to register your company on JobsCayman if you would like to submit a job post to seek a qualified and skilled Caymanian to fill the position, or if you wish to make an application for a work permit in the event that you are unable to source a suitably qualified and experienced Caymanian candidate.

Is the JobsCayman portal available to use now?

Yes. Please visit the site here

Registering With the JobsCayman Portal:

Who has to register with JobsCayman?

Job seekers will create a CIGnet account and register as a ‘Person’. Once approval is received, this will allow them to register as a ‘Job Seeker’. Job seekers can be Caymanian, Married to Caymanian, Permanent Residents or Legally and Ordinarily Resident within the Cayman Islands.

An authorised individual from an employer business will create a CIGnet account and register as a ‘Person’. Once approval is received, this will allow them to register the company as an ‘Employer’ and then submit job vacancy posts. More than one person can be authorised to access the company account and submit vacancies on its behalf. WORC sends email confirmations when each step of the process is finalised and also sends email notifications when applications have been submitted in response to a job posting.

If previously registered under NWDA, is re-registration required?

You can use your previous NWDA log in details to register as a ‘person.’

If you forgot your CIGnet password, can you get that reset? And where do you write to get that reset?

Yes, you can – follow this link to request a password reset.

How do I register as a person with JobsCayman?

To register with JobsCayman, you will first need to create a CIGnet account. To do this, go to the tab on the top right corner of the WORC home page entitled “Create Your CIGnet Login’ – to access this page, click here.

Follow the steps and use those login details to register as a person with JobsCayman. Fill out your Personal Information and upload a valid ID under ‘Passport’ and Proof of Immigration Status under ‘Evidence’

I just registered as a person. How long will it take for my registration to be approved?

It takes 1-3 business days to be approved, provided there are no issues with the registrations. You will be contacted via email if any additional information or documentation is required.

How do I register as an Employer with Jobs Cayman?

To register as an Employer with JobsCayman, you will first need to register as a Person.

Follow the steps and use the login details to register as an Employer with JobsCayman. Upload a valid Trade & Business License (or equivalent), a valid ID, an Authorization Letter, and your Annual Return, if applicable. If the Authorization Letter is signed by someone other than the primary person who is a Director/Shareholder of the company, their valid ID must also be uploaded.

Is it recommended to register an employee who is not a director of the company as an agent?

Anyone that will interact with the portal has to be registered, and a letter of authorization from a Director of the company can be uploaded with the registration

For the authorization letter, do you need all directors of the company to sign it and require a copy of the Register of Directors (or Annual return)?

One director can sign the letter. Yes, a copy of the Register of Directors (or current Annual Return) needs to be provided when registering the business if it is a limited liability company.

What does the authorization letter need to contain?

The letter will confirm that the employer authorizes the primary person listed to register the JobsCayman account and to act on their behalf.

I just registered as an Employer. How long will it take for my registration to be approved?

It takes 1-3 business days to be approved, provided there are no issues with the registrations.

Are the required documents indicated in the application process?

Yes, they are, and WORC has provided guidance here.๏ปฟ

Job Posting on the JobsCayman Portal:

If we use this process to add jobs, do we still have to run ads in the local papers, or is listing them on the JobsCayman portal sufficient?

You can still run job adverts in the local paper, but if you intend to submit a work permit application, the job must be listed on the JobsCayman portal before submission. While WORC is waiting for all job seekers to be registered, it is suggested that Employers advertise in the local paper together with JobsCayman.

How long is a job advertised on the JobsCayman portal?

18 days

Are the job postings automatically deleted after two weeks?

No.

How long are the postings valid for on the portal?

Job postings will have the same validity on the job portal as with newspaper posting.

If I posted a vacancy in the JobsCayman portal, and it took three months to complete the recruitment, would I need to post it again?

Job postings will have the same validity on the job portal as with newspaper posting

Are we able to see expired job ads?

When you submit a new job post, you will see open and expired job postings under ‘job posts’

Are we required to make payments for positions posted?

Not at this time, but it is expected in the future.

Are there any positions that are exempt from having to be advertised in the portal?

Any positions that are currently exempted from having to be advertised in the newspaper (such as a Domestic Helper) will be exempted from being advertised in the portal until the public is advised otherwise.

Are we able to see all the positions we have available?

You should see all of your available positions when you register as a job seeker and search for jobs under your company. Alternately you can submit a new job post, and you will see open and expired job postings under ‘job posts’

Are there penalties if persons/companies choose not to post their adverts on the JobsCayman portal?

Employers are required to post their adverts on the JobsCayman portal before submission of a work permit application.

What about if the applicants choose to be interviewed for another position, rather than the one selected in the portal?

You will note this in the comments section when reviewing applicants.

If we are only seeking Caymanians, are we still required to post an advert on the JobsCayman portal?

You can advertise the role in a local newspaper and on the JobsCayman portal to encourage applications from Caymanians

How do you deal with personal employers who will have staff, e.g., a handyman or Nanny? Would you register your home as a business?

You can register as an employer using the industry code for employers of domestic personnel

Reviewing Candidates/Applicants on the Jobs Cayman Portal

Is there a way for employers to browse candidates/persons registered as job seekers?

This feature is not currently available.

How do you review applicants? If multiple persons have access to the employer portal, can everyone see the applicants?

You will go to the section ‘review applicants’ if an application has been received. Anyone who has access to the employer’s profile can see the applicants.
